Why Bay for the Gulf

Purpose of the Gala
Bay for the Gulf Gala is a fundraising event to support restoring the waters of the Gulf of Mexico and the wetlands along the southern U.S. coast. Proceeds will go to the Save Our Gulf fund of the Waterkeeper® Alliance, to support the seven Waterkeeper organizations of the Gulf Coast. Presented by our local Bay advocate, San Francisco Baykeeper.

Why Bay for the Gulf?
Bay for the Gulf was started by Guillaume Bienaime, executive chef of Restaurant Marche in Menlo Park. Through numerous conversations with Pietro Paravanno, a local fisherman and president of the Institute for Fisheries Resources, Chef Bienaime learned shocking details about the seriousness of the recent spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Having recently visited Louisiana and the peaceful, pristine bayous, Bienaime felt a personal connection and deep concern for the future of the Gulf and the people who live and work along its shores.  He immediately thought of the Rosewood as the perfect venue for this event of this sort and is grateful that Executive Chef Peter Rudolph chose to participate.

Save Our Gulf
